Tamarin Falls, Curepipe

(4.6/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
A series of seven waterfalls, each pouring into the next fall below, Tamarin Falls reward a challenging trek with abundant natural beauty. It's best to hire a guide to lead you to the falls; the hike can be quite difficult, with near vertical climbs, and a guide will know the best and safest way to get you there. Likewise, he or she can tell you about what you're seeing and the landscape you're exploring. The trek to the falls leads through forest and lush vegetation, around ponds, and across wide-open expanses. The diversity of this area and the exotic plant and animal life make the trip particularly special. Adventurers can walk right alongside the falls, and even jump from the top of a small fall into the pool below. Make sure to wear proper shoes for hiking. • Following the advice found on TripAdvisor including, we appealed to Jay Tannoo (+ 230 57 64 13 72, jaytannoo@yahoo.com) for this hike, which is not possible without the help of a guide, the paths are not marked and often quite difficult to find. Jay is passionate and interesting, provides a very good local picnic (cooked by his wife) and water bottles, we led with kindness and told us a lot of things on the island of Mauritius. Icing on the cake, Jay has been able to adapt the hike at the level of each, in a group where some worked a little less good than the other. He appealed to his son to bring a part of the group to destination after seeing 4 major waterfalls (originally scheduled to ride), which are the more passable, and took the second part of the group, more Walker, in a big hike much more physical through all the stunts of tamarind (nearly 12 in total), which was not planned but much appreciated. In total, more than 7km of hiking in places not always easy but very very beautiful! Suddenly, everyone walked away very satisfied and saw some beautiful things, despite the rain! The site itself is superb, the bathing places are very nice and Jay offers to jump to some places (up to 12 m for the biggest jump, in the part of the more complex hiking). In short, a great time with a guide local, friendly and dedicated (for a very reasonable price in view of the service provided)!
