#2 of 19 in Museums in Martinique
Learn about the history of Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon, at Musee de la Pagerie. The quaint stone house, where Josephine spent the first 15 years of her life, has now been turned into a museum. Head inside to see the former family kitchen, which has now been converted into a dislpay about the empresses’ childhood. Find her wooden bed and other memorabilia, such as a rocking chair, glass vases, and pictures of the empress. Other areas of the property contain a selection of important items, such as the Bonaparte family chart, old sugarcane equipment, and love letters between herself and Napoleon. • This small house is the place of birth of the Empress Josephine; It's a landmark of Trois Ilets is a very touristy town by its beaches and yet full of remains must-see

  • In a very nice setting we learn a lot about the wife of Napoleon 1st, born in Martinique and become Empress of the french. The tour is guided from 10 visitors but you can quite interested in the place without a guide

  • Absolutely unacceptable host for a tourist site... At the edge of Metropolitan anti racism! To have travelled a lot and always adopted a nice profile, I was never confronted with such disdain on the part of a hostess. Result: although having paid my admission fee, I ran this place without making the visit...

  • All of France, the Bonapartists, the curious history buffs should make this visit on the PAGERIE and of ORCHARDS of SANOIS, BEAUHARNAIS family. Located in a magnificent site overlooking the sea of the Caribbean, the area of the Pagerie sees in 1763 a girl promised to an extraordinary destiny: Marie-Joseph-Rose Tascher Pagerie, future Josephine, Empress of the French (1763-1814). Josephine spent his first 16 years in the area of La Pagerie, will become the first wife of Napoléon Bonaparte of 1796 to 1809 and Queen of Italy from 1804 to 1809.

  • The Museum provides information about the origin and life of the family Tascher de la Pagerie. Their daughter Joséphine is entered as the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress of France in the history. The exhibition itself, in the former kitchen building, is quite small. Therefore the participation in one of the free, but irregularly scheduled guided tours (mostly in French) is advisable to tell the Museum staff know much. Large, well-kept gardens.
