La Savane des Esclaves, Trois-Ilets

(4.3/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Experience a recreated "slave village" at La Savane des Esclaves. The settlement was created in 2000 by Gilbert Larose, a local who wanted to showcase the lives of his ancestors--plantation workers who fled to freedom and lived off the land. You'll step back in time as you explore this replica 19th-century village, where each structure is dedicated to a traditional local custom. In addition to traditional huts and artifacts, look for an old-fashioned Creole garden, which is tended without fertilizer or pesticide and is filled with herbs, medicinal plants, and fruit. • We were welcomed with clear explanations. The boxes are in good condition with accessories that allow us to project ourselves in time. Nice flowery well-maintained and very nice for a walk of discovery.

  • The slaves Savannah visit lasts less than an hour no more, in any case for us. It costs 9 euros. The start of the visit is commented out then after we visit freely the place. There is the Museum, the General exhibition on the slavery, the box of the Colon, the box of old slavery, the creole garden, the Village of yesteryear lontan, medicinal garden, planting, the boat, the Manioquerie and the shop. Overall this place is well maintained. It's nice to do, there are beautiful things to see, a nice place.

  • Expected to something greater, in the end we discover anything that we don't already know. The nice thing is the info on medicinal plants. Expensive for what it is. On the other hand we enjoyed to spend a moment with Mr. Larose quiet
