Chateau Dubuc, La Trinite

3.8
#2 of 6 in Things to do in La Trinite
Admire the remains of Chateau Dubuc, a former sugar plantation with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Erected in 1721, the chateau fell into disrepair in 1815, having survived earthquakes, cyclones, and looting by British troops. Upon entry, you'll be given a self-guided audio tour (available in both English and French), allowing you to explore the 18th-century ruins at your own pace. Wonder through the spacious grounds, or follow the trail down to the beach to enjoy the cooling sea breeze. Some of the path can be strenuous and hilly, so wear good walking shoes and pack plenty of water and sunscreen. • Little interest in him, there are only ruins that it is hard to imagine the original version. Not against, autour trails are superb!

  • Attention; It is better to park as close as possible to the site, because the path that leads there is not flat and very hot! Nice location to the site but there is not much to see and it's the hootch.

  • It's a great visit I recommend, particularly exposure. However to get there, he must leave his car on the road and walk down. The descent and the ascent is not easy, except if you have a car with a disabled logo because you can get there at the foot of the site.

  • Well documented view into the plantation era in Martinique. Beautiful site, short but hilly hike in from the parking area.
  • Nice, but not much to see for five Euros.
  • Great place to visit and see a little history of the island from the 1600s
  • Nice to visit !
  • Really very interesting and documented. It is very good an idea of the atmosphere when the site was in operation. For only 5 euros (children 2 euro) wouldn't want to ignore. A priori only audio guide (french and English), we'd like to have a guide who ask questions, but visited in October so to see in high season.
