  • Our Visit to Martinique was short and sweet. As a cruise port stop, we had a full day to explore. It was a rather rainy day so we grabbed a taxi cab driver along with a few other couples and toured th...  more »
  • Located on the road to the track in the direction of balata gardens. Nicknamed the little Montmartre because it is a miniature replica of the Sacred Heart in Paris. Nice view of Fort de France and the Piton of the Carbet. Nothing special inside but the place is quiet and relaxing. This is the lovely freshness.

  • This is a beautiful Catholic Church on the Route de Balata on a mountain overlooking Fort de France Bay. The church sits adjacent to a convent and is surrounded by lush vegetation and the most magnificent and fragrant tropical flowers. If you are walking the countryside, traveling by car, or visiting the church on a guided tour bus, it is not only scenic it is an oasis of tranquility. You're able to sit and eat your packed lunch of the most delicious creole cuisine, take pictures of birds, flowers and of boats in the near Caribbean sea for hours, read a book, hear yourself think, or even venture into the church to sit in a wooden pew and pray or meditate. The beautiful rustic church edifice itself is in various stages of continuous repair, which gives the visitor a true feel of the age of the church and a wonderful connection to the local people who come regularly to worship. The church is abutted by its cemetery which is a haven of local genealogical history. If you visit Martinique, it is without equivocation a must see and a most magnificent destination.
  • A very beautiful church, modelled after the Sacré Coeur in Paris. On your way to or from the Balata Gardens, it's also a must-visit!
  • Impressive to see a minimuseo sacred Coueur in the middle of a Caribbean island, and with a view of nature

  • Beautiful church on the heights of Fort-de-France in green surroundings. It is a replica of the sacred heart.

  • A great resemblance indeed :) but inside Conversely it is not the same thing, and it's not really worth the visit. However the view from the courtyard is beautiful.
