The Knights Hospitallers, Valletta

(4.1/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Visit the lower ward of the hospital established and run by The Knights Hospitallers, where patients slept three to a bed. Take a guided tour to learn about the hospital, the medical procedures performed there, and how it was organized. The detailed exhibits depict how life was for the sick and wounded. Displays also explain the origins of this order of knights and how the construction of the hospital gave birth to the concept of modern-day nursing and health care. The museum is underground and involves descending steps, which may be difficult for those with mobility problems. • Visited after the Malta Experience, the building offers beautiful volumes, beautiful architecture and parts to the impressive size. Special mention for a guide who gave us a very documented and informative presentation on the history of the building.

  • Visitors to the Valletta have to take a step from this pillar of the history of Malta. To avoid damaging the visit, I can tell you that the entrance fee is 5 euro and explanations about the tables are in 4 languages. General topic are the Knights of St John and their history until recent years it life. Of course in all that you are analyzing the medical point of view and the history of the structure in which it is situated, this museum. The rest you have to see it to you in person. Good visit!
