  • In the middle of the old town, across from via della Repubblica, is among the largest in the city. Flanked on one side by the Palace of the Grand Master and the other side by a neoclassical building which houses the Italian Cultural Centre, whose sides there are 2 symmetric Baroque fountains. Actually, even in the middle of the square there is a fountain, only it's invisible as are nothing but jets of water coming out of the floor; If the fountain is not working, what happened to us, do not see anything. Italian Cultural Centre guy told me that when it works there are hourly water games with music, but I knew how to explain why that day did not work. Like the adjacent pedestrianised piazza della Repubblica Square and the street of the same name; I find it very distracting and austere, preferring the piazza della Repubblica, smaller but more animated and sparkling.

  • A great place for people watching and a bit of pageantry with the guards on the front of the Government building there.  more »
  • I, the undersigned, came just as the parade was to begin, it was a fun experience, I had not expected the day;)

  • Historic importance. Centre of Valletta, has a lot of restaurants, shopping and amenities around it. Great place to sit at and look around. Grandmaster's Palace and Armoury are a must see.
  • I spent many evenings here using the free wifi. Every hour on the hour the fountains will spruce up and dance to a tune which lasts about 3-4 minutes. If the fountains are off, don't wait around for it to happen. Some times the fountains are deactivated for scheduled activities which are not uncommon in this space. This is a nice place to walk around and enjoy inbetween dinner and a drink or a drink and your stay. Take your loved one through a stroll here, maybe a dance.
  • Nice place to visit. Near to the most crowded place in Valetta where you can easily find a bench to sit and enjoy beautiful landscape.
  • A must visit for all tourists visiting the island. St.Georges's square with the Grand Master's Palace is a historical site and a lovely place to visit both during the day and night.
  • Great spot for people watching over drinks or dinner, with a fountain that kids can run through.
