  • Want to hire a Boat? I wanted to hire my own boat and ride round the sea so I came cross `Malta Self Drive Boats`. What can I say…The owner is fantastic, he explained everything to us about health and safety. Showed us how to operate the boat and gave us lots of advice. This experience is not to be missed. 5 star service for the boat and the owner.
  • Booked 2 hours for this experience, but on arrival, Mark the owner/operator advised that due to the swell past the headland, it might be better to only explore the Silema area. No problem! The bright red craft is equipped with an anchor, lifejacket, horseshoe safety float and a fully comprehensive folder containing instructions on how to drive the craft and what to watch out for - mainly the Silema to Valetta ferry that is so quiet that it creeps up on you! The craft is not moored up to the wall, but don't worry, Mark dives in and swims out to it, climbing on board and bringing it safely to shore. There then follows a short but comprehensive training session - then it's off to explore! The views from the craft are unique and provide for some excellent photo opportunities. If, like me, you wave to the passing boats with the wrong hand, you'll find that the safety lanyard pulls out and cuts the engine. Not a problem, as Mark gives full instructions on how to start the engine. This has got to be the most relaxing and pleasurable way to explore the harbours, in your own time and without anyone else breathing down your neck. Mark and his niece are very friendly and approachable and just a phone call away if you get into difficulty. This is not a one-off experience, as you could go the next day and have a totally different experience. Great value for money, thoroughly enjoyable and you don't need any prior boating experience.
