St Paul's Catacombs, Rabat
(4.1/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Explore the complex of interconnected underground Roman cemeteries, in use up to the 4th century CE, at St Paul's Catacombs. The earliest archaeological evidence of Christianity in Malta, the catacombs display various tomb types, like the baldacchino tombs, which are free-standing, canopied burials with grand arches and pillars. Other decorations within the catacombs include illustrations and written messages. Be advised that the catacombs are very dark, with steep stairs and uneven flooring. They may be difficult to manage for those with mobility issues or claustrophobia. • Very well laid out site. Explanatory sign at each entrance. A catacomb was closed on the day of our visit. Lacks a true re-enactment with a skeleton plastic for better visibility

  • One of the best places to visit in malta in my opinion, well preserved, easy to navigate, no verry much information though. Verry refreshing temperature in the maltese heat
  • Cool place to see. Quite hot even down there on August.
  • It's very nice and funny to visit each catacomb, going in and out.
  • Great experience and really interesting. There are a few places which are a little tight to claustrophobic people may not like some aspects, but for the really narrow areas, there were often wider alternate routes. Highly recommend.
  • Only for the ppl who are into historic places.
