Mdina Old City, Mdina
(4.8/5 based on 6,500+ reviews on the web)
For a quiet stroll through the medieval streets and impressive views of the island, head to Mdina Old City. The old capital of Malta, this town of 300 residents is surrounded by historic walls and coined the "Silent City" due to the prohibition of cars in the area. Its narrow streets support to an array of buildings that feature Norman Baroque architecture, including the palaces of Maltese noble families. Be sure to visit the imposing Cathedral of the Conversion of St. Paul and explore its square. Rest your legs and chat with the locals at one of the town's cafes or restaurants, many of which serve local fare. • When you enter the old city feels like stepping back in time. The thing that jars so much it's the multitude of souvenir shops that have nothing to do with the context.

  • Hanging out with old town to walk around after seeing the main sights. Just like in the middle ages touched by time travel, such as rooftops. Buildings are always above the entrance to the coat of arms. Increases stopped when entering the small size and views.

  • I liked Mdina for his character of walled city, with the decorated bridge, houses, churches and palaces very well maintained and decorated with sculptures... And the moat turned into garden where there are beautiful photographic views on elements of the city
