Tanjung Bungah Floating Mosque, Tanjung Bungah

(2.7/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
Featuring seven-storey-high towering minarets and panoramic views of the sea, Tanjung Bungah Floating Mosque is a wonder of Moorish architecture. The impression of floating is achieved with numerous supporting pillars, sunk deep into the seabed and visible during low tide. Built in 2004, the current building replaced an older mosque damaged in the tsunami. The building is especially lovely in the evenings, when artificial lights reflect in the water. • Built in the sea supported by strong concrete pillars. It does not actually 'float' as the name would suggest rather it stands on water and when it is high tide it appears to be floating on water when...  more »
  • We went there purely due to the name of this mosque called the floating mosque. Structurally it was interesting. Built on stilt. The view around the mosque is ok. Plenty of boats around. Inside of the...  more »
  • This mosque is open to all. everyone can come in. I was a bit surprised to see a Western Couple sitting on the bench by the sea inside the mosque. This harmony felt great.  more »
