Garden Nature / Park
Take a stroll along the paths and bridges that crisscross the peaceful scenery of Taiping Lake Gardens, the oldest public garden in Malaysia. Established in 1880 during British colonial rule, this garden features rows of ancient angsana--"rain trees"--which stretch their branches over the water. Take a gentle pedal boat ride across the lake, blow off some steam at the roller-skating rink or the playground, and wander through the fragrant tulip gardens. The park contains ten artificial lakes and ponds, as well as a lotus pool. Using our world travel planner, Taiping attractions like Taiping Lake Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Unprepared for weekend/festive customer, not enough ice.. not enough burger... unprofessional reason.. no back up plan..
  • This is more a social gathering center, more like a physical Facebook rather than a restaurant. Average age of patrons is about 15 YO. So you can expect NOISE. Good thing as always is the morning menu: combo of McMuffin & coffee. As per the custom here in Malaysia, McDonald's do not serve milk jiggers (milk packet in small plastic cups) per order of your coffee. Instead they give you this non-dairy substitute bullshit called "creamer". Hint: non-dairy creamer is flammable. Look it up on YouTube. Anyway this stuff is so gross, they shouldn't be serving it in a restaurant where a meal costs twice as much as what you'd ordinarily pay at average air conditioned coffee houses. So if that's regular milk to Malaysians, imagine what goes inside a milkshake.
  • best place to hang out for yam cha in taiping. there's even a mcCafe here.
  • Friendly service by both counters but unfortunately our both double fish fillet was overcooked...
  • Unprofessional and very slow service (the staffs were daydreaming), once I had only notes to pay and the girl at the counter asked me to look for change/coins and showed me disappointed face. I believe McDonald's should have enough change instead asking their customer to look for it while paying. Rude and lazy.

Where to stay in Taiping

Budget to upscale hotels continue to pop up in Taiping thanks to the city's growing tourism industry. Many of the less expensive hotels feature modern amenities and offer guided Taiping tours. While the lowest priced still may not offer air conditioning, most reputable places provide this luxury as well as television, Wi-Fi, and hot water. Find most hotels in the city center, but if you prefer to be closer to Taiping's lush nature, consider renting a bungalow in the surrounding foothills.
