#1 of 69 in Parks in Sabah
Explore Mount Kinabalu, a towering mountain and World Heritage Site with a tremendous ecological diversity. As Malaysia's highest point, its summit (Low's Peak) reaches 4,096 m (13,438 ft) above sea level. Provided you're in good condition, you don't need any special equipment for the accessible ascent to the top. Elsewhere on the mountain, several rock climbing sites offer challenges for experienced climbers. The protected mountain and national park that surrounds it support around 6,000 species of plants, 326 species of birds, and more than 100 species of mammals, with star residents including the huge Rafflesia plants as well as the endangered orangutan. For this reason, it remains one of the world's chief sites of interest for scientists, nature-lovers, and conservationists. • Experience Japanese tour of Japan used the local company tours is used, but this time after climbing by personal arrangement at half the price of the tour, in the suite of the Park Lodge, mountain lodge, stayed en suite private pool Guide and I also understand how to pace yourself and staff at more than 4,000 m mountain. It is easy to direct book sterasanctuary lodge climbers stay & play package, go to the Park by taxi or bus. Also surprisingly the taxi Arba and grab taxis is available in the island of Borneo, is cheaper than the taxi recommended.

  • One of the most incredible hiking experiences in the world. Try to do it in one day...it's VERY tough. I got altitude sickness and didn't bring enough water so make sure you are prepared for both of those things. I had to drag myself up the last mile or so of the hike, taking breaks every minute or so but I made it and I was rewarded with an incredible view and not having to pay a lot of money to stay on the mountain. I cannot recommend this hike enough. There is a hostel just below the mountain and down the road. Stay there, it's very reasonably priced and the food is good too! When I went I hitchhiked back to Kota Kinabalu but you can easily take a cheap taxi. It's an incredible adventure and one that, if you are traveling to this part of the island of Borneo, you MUST do. It's one of the tallest mountains in the world that you can hike in a day. Make sure you do it! In order to get a pass to climb in a day you NEED to go the day before to the ranger office inside the park or else they won't let you do it!!
  • It is worth it, I was fortunate enough to go when the weather was clear. Preparation is key! and get whatever competitive advantage you can get. Wear your knee braces, get a pair of good hiking shoes and get some hiking poles. You will definitely survive without the above tools but your knees and legs won't thank you for them. I have bad knees and by taking it slow with the poles, I was pain free and was running about the next day. As many have said before, the descent is hard part. Take your time on the ascent so not to strain you knees.
  • Mount Kinabalu is a trek that all people should have on their bucket list. I will not lie to you. If you are not fit, you will struggle but no matter what you will still make it. It’s a worth while challenge with amazing views and once you make it to the top, I promise that you will feel proud of your self and your accomplishment.
  • Mount Kinabalu is the symbol of glory of this land and it has been the pride of the nation ever since. No matter where you are the glimpses of the mountain will always be in your heart especially when you're a Sabahan. That is why this state is very proud with its given entitlement as the 'Land BelowThe Wind'😇
  • This mountain has given me the best two days in my life. I am 53 years old. I could see such a landscape! I climbed on December 29, 2017. Rain often occurs every day, good performance rain gear is a necessity item.I enjoyed interacting with other climbers very much.
