Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, Penampang

Meet some of Southeast Asia's most famous creatures at Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. Opened in 2007, the park focuses on both the zoological and the botanical, divided into separate areas. In the zoo, see the endangered proboscis monkeys with their huge snouts and pot-bellies--a native species found only on the island. In the botanical area, follow the 1.4 km (0.9 mi) paved jungle trail, walking through arrangements of flowering vines and surrounded by towering lime trees. • Zoo their relaxing laid-back atmosphere. Kitty is amazing and sweet. Access from the city of Kota Kinabalu in grab 21 ringgit. 20-just do not arrive. Up to this point was expected. But read something in return is far from Kota Kinabalu city and grab, you could arrange the taxi at the Zoo with the advance information and could meet at the Zoo. Happened there? My? Of the brother of variety to choose from 80 ringgit at what city and speak to me, helped 70 I got a lift in the ringgit. It may have looked familiar so caters to people like me. The basic staff must be booked in advance may be.

  • Although they have some cool animals, it is just a simple zoo with relatively small enclosures. It's not anything like the name suggests: wildlife.  more »

  • My last visit three years ago was more exciting since there were more animals around in this zoo. Elephants enclosure was closed down, tiger was alone with no one to play with, bears look malnourished. But, I am proud to see all the zoo staff worked hard to ensure this one and only zoo in Sabah remains open for public.
  • This place is absolutely horrible! The animals are kept in so little cages.. they are so skinny and stressed. The park should be shut down. Do not support this animal abuse!
  • Here you can see mostly local animals and few exotic animals. There is also botanical garden / area for plants manage by forestry department. Please bring umbrella because on sunny day it will be hot. Also dont forget to bring a drink bacause you have to take a little bit long walk about 1.4 km on paved track in the park. The animal show at 11am. Open 9.30am to 5.30pm. Ticket (Local) - RM10 for adult and RM5 for children. (Foreigner) RM20 for adult and RM10 for children. It is open on Public Holidays.
  • Animals are starved and chained. Shameful the people that run this place. This hell should be shut down. How do they pass humane guidelines??? They need to be strongly investigated.
  • Nice place to bring your family, get real experience to see the animal and they also got bird show and it was a nice performance!
