Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, Penampang

3.1
#5 of 20 in Zoos & Aquariums in Malaysia
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Meet some of Southeast Asia's most famous creatures at Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. Opened in 2007, the park focuses on both the zoological and the botanical, divided into separate areas. In the zoo, see the endangered proboscis monkeys with their huge snouts and pot-bellies--a native species found only on the island. In the botanical area, follow the 1.4 km (0.9 mi) paved jungle trail, walking through arrangements of flowering vines and surrounded by towering lime trees. • Nice place to take the kiddies to. Be aware that there are no drink or food stalls inside the zoo itself. There are a lot of them outside near the car park though.
  • Great place to visit. The animal show at 11.00 am is interesting and entertaining. Try to arrive by 10.00am , So that can experience the serial of animal feeding which end by 2.30pm. Need to take note that the animal show or animal feeding will not be carried out if raining. Carry with you some water, light food.
  • Not as small as a lot of reviews make it sound, especially with the hills it's still a fair walk to see everything. Some of the animals are not kept in so nice condition, and the ostrich looks quite bad (although that might be due to some other cause). The animal show is a good opportunity to get close to some of the animals (like petting a python). Take care of your return trip; we arrived by Uber but getting one to go back can take a while since the park is in the middle of nowhere.
  • The zoo has improve a lot since day one. A great place to bring your family especially with kids. A lot of variety of animal.the beautiful feathered creatures, elephants, tiger, reptiles, the orang utan and many more. The zoo management is doing a great job to keep this place clean and beautiful. The animal also look healthy and happy. Hopefully more exotic animal can be seen here. Entrance fee is reasonable price also. The toilet inside is very clean and well maintain. Its good to visit early in the morning and you can also catch the feeding show too. Outside the zoo theres food stalls selling foods and drinks at good price. Parking is spacious. Worth your money going here.
  • Have to go see this bird called Hill Myna, the number of voice it could mimic is mind blowing, it even mimics a cat's meow
