Cameron Highlands, Pahang

#36 of 166 in Things to do in Pahang
Sip on a locally sourced tea and take in the fields of green as far as the eye can see at Cameron Highlands. The country's biggest hill station area, the highlands are even bigger than the area of Singapore. Here, the scent of eucalyptus wafts and you'll find a refreshingly cool breeze as tea plantations and strawberry fields unfold in the distance. The highlands were developed by the British in the British colonial era as a popular holiday destination. Bungalows, golf courses, summer homes, and resorts dot the hillsides. Throughout the highlands you'll find plenty of hiking trails, as well as many temples and forests in the natural areas that surround the region. • An amazing experience. From the heat of the rainforest in a soft vegetation-rich landscape and the cool after only a few hours drive. One feels in European climes, only nature is tropical as well as the tea plantations on the hills all around. The tea bushes on the hillsides is nestled like big foam pads. Many greenhouses with vegetables and especially strawberries, which are especially popular, are up on the hills and the way. Earlier, there are also small romantic hotels, in part from the colonial period in addition to beautiful resorts. It is easy to imagine that it already was a popular vacation spot. The British did anyley always what is good.

  • We stayed here for 3 nights. The weather was poor which we had not realised was likely to be the case when we booked. We also did not know that most of the trails would be closed. If this is typical a...  more »

  • Went on school trip last year. Very memorable. The views, the climate. Very cool and chilly. The views so vast and breathtaking. The road to the tea plantation was very windy and quite dangerous but the trip was worth it. Kind of going for camel adventure. The night market was also great, can buy strawberries, corns and all. Good place to spend your holidays or weekends #localguides
