One of the oldest remaining Dutch colonial buildings in the Far East, Stadthuys sits in the heart of Melaka. Stop by this landmark building to learn about the history of the city and its various peoples, from Melaka's establishment in 1400 until 1957--the year the Federation of Malaya gained independence. The building formerly served as the seat of the Dutch administration and now houses history and ethnography museums. The earthy tones of the structure and the rest of the colonial-era square make a striking backdrop for photographs. • Here you can learn much about the individual epochs in the history of the city in which the Dutch, British and Japanese given the fortunes. The presentation is somewhat antiquated because the ticket price is but moderate and the Museum is situated on the Dutch square, I recommend the visit anyway!

  • I loved coming at this place. It was very calm moments over here and less crowded. This is one of the main attractions in Malacca and must visit.
  • It will be quite crowded during weekends so if want to capture great image of it come early morning. Unique spot as one of the main highlight of Melaka. Suggest make a whole round around the area n valley behind Stadhuys where it leads to old cemetry. There was a pathway to St Paul Hill. If thirsty just head across the road for a cool treat of cendol, must try when you are here. Just be extra careful when crossing the road even though you are using zebra crossing. Guess they don't stop even for a real zebra.
  • Could never miss this signature red building in Melaka , Stadthuys the city hall for the Dutch now have become a place that sells souvenirs and clothes .
  • Good place for family and friend. So many museums nearby and a very historical place. This is also a tourist attraction so this place is quite busy especially on the weekend. Good place, good people, good food. So many places to take picture. Terdapat juga banyak jenis beca yg ada banyak hiasan2 menarik. You can get a lot of information from The Stadthuys
  • Love the slogan posted in The Stadthuys "Don't mess with Melaka". The structure is believed to be the oldest-surviving Dutch building in the East. The place display the typical featurea of Dutch colonial architecture with massive walls, windows and chunky doors with wrought-iron hinges. Theres also an old trian located at the back of Stadthuys.

Where to stay in Melaka

Luxury hotels in opulent buildings frequently sit right alongside budget accommodations in Melaka. Side streets and alleyways offer secluded rooms in attractive buildings that are often as grandiose as regal hotels. For budget lodgings, look for the main arterial roads, which lack the charm of the rest of the town, but provide comfortable rooms at reduced rates.
