Stadthuys, Melaka
(3.7/5 based on 460 reviews on the web)
One of the oldest remaining Dutch colonial buildings in the Far East, Stadthuys sits in the heart of Melaka. Stop by this landmark building to learn about the history of the city and its various peoples, from Melaka's establishment in 1400 until 1957--the year the Federation of Malaya gained independence. The building formerly served as the seat of the Dutch administration and now houses history and ethnography museums. The earthy tones of the structure and the rest of the colonial-era square make a striking backdrop for photographs. To visit Stadthuys and other attractions in Melaka, use our Melaka holiday planner.

  • I have been to this one last weekend and felt amazing. This is the one place where you can get all info of Melacca from 12 th century till now. Knowledge about all the Kings, Portuguese colony, Dutch ...  more »
  • i do recommend to go there and stay for 30 mins.. enjoy the color and the spirit of the mosque and the church. every body is smiling.. every one is not in rush and everyone is happy.
  • If the Dutch are we yet masr take a look in this museum for some to find out about the history of Melaka and the Dutch influence on the city. It's a very nice museum, better than I'm used to. There is a lot of information and exhibitions are very beautiful. It gives a good picture of the culture and because they have all kinds of mannequins used to depict situations, you stand there really right in instead of you go to Hung clothes is looking at. Highly recommended, both on a rainy as a sunny day. (It's nice and cool inside). If you don't read all signs are you within two hours from there, but you come to really study are you much longer sweet!

  • Good place to adventure and learn about melacca. The stadthuys or red building its a good choice to go in melacca. And in this place 0 miles of melacca.
  • A good place to stroll and look at the Dutch heritage and some beautiful buildings. This is the landmark of Malacca, a foundation of development and symbol for the city, definitely a must visit place. Jonker Street, Fort Santiago etc are well within walk distance, with lots of museums, shops and restaurants.
  • So much historical influence in this town . From the dutch to the Portuguese, british , chinese , indians and arabs . There is so much to see and explore here .
  • Very adventure and historical. It makes me to know more about the buildings and makes me want to explore all the historical buildings in Melaka. There is also a lot of historical art such as mural and beautiful color of buildings. #lovemelaka #melakainmyheart :)))
