Categories: History Museums, Architectural Buildings, Museums, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.7/5 based on 440 reviews on the web
One of the oldest remaining Dutch colonial buildings in the Far East, Stadthuys sits in the heart of Melaka. Stop by this landmark building to learn about the history of the city and its various peoples, from Melaka's establishment in 1400 until 1957--the year the Federation of Malaya gained independence. The building formerly served as the seat of the Dutch administration and now houses history and ethnography museums. The earthy tones of the structure and the rest of the colonial-era square make a striking backdrop for photographs. To visit Stadthuys and other attractions in Melaka, use our Melaka holiday planner.

  • This historical place was what is left of the Dutch colonial government. Good for photo shoots and background.

  • Very adventure and historical. It makes me to know more about the buildings and makes me want to explore all the historical buildings in Melaka. There is also a lot of historical art such as mural and beautiful color of buildings. #lovemelaka #melakainmyheart :)))
  • Nothing special, just an ordinary old city. So many tourists and very hot, so it will be not comfortable for most people. People queueing just for coffee or nasi ayam, a little bit overrated I think. For me, once is enough. Won't come back here of course.
  • A good place to be when you wanted to be away from the city. Banda hilir is a heritage and culture site. Christ church is located nearby. Bicycles for rent and looks pretty. A ship nearby for tourist and locals but i have skipped that.
