The St. John's Fort (Kubu St. John) is a historical fort in Melaka City, Melaka, Malaysia.HistoryThe fort was constructed during the Dutch Malacca in the 18th century to guard against landward attack. It was once a private chapel dedicated to St. John the Baptist.ArchitectureThe fort is located at the top of St. John's Hill. It was built from Laterite stone and bricks. The fort had only one entrance and its outer walls range between 3-4 meters high.ExhibitionsThe fort has canons that are facing inland because the Dutch feared inland threats from Acehnese and Bugis invaders more than maritime invasions.

Where to stay in Melaka

Luxury hotels in opulent buildings frequently sit right alongside budget accommodations in Melaka. Side streets and alleyways offer secluded rooms in attractive buildings that are often as grandiose as regal hotels. For budget lodgings, look for the main arterial roads, which lack the charm of the rest of the town, but provide comfortable rooms at reduced rates.

  • Small fort on top of this hill. People came here for evening and morning jog. There are monkeys here.
  • Quite place and suitable for exercise spot. Be prepared for mosquitoes in the evening.
  • Great place to go for a evening or morning jog with a chilling environment
  • Old fort on the hill of St John. Used to be a look out fort and long time ago, the sea line was much nearer to this hill. If you come by car, you can drive the car up the hill, although there's limited parking on the hill. Otherwise you will need to park down, and there is a short walk up to the hill. Afternoons will be hot. At the foot of the fort, there's a stone stairs up to the fort itself. It's a small place. Doesn't close, although, one really shouldn't come late at night. From the fort, take photos with the bronze cannons. And try to see far beyond to the seashore.
  • An old fort on top of an old hill with nothing to do
