Jonker Street, Melaka

3.8
Stroll through the crowds of Jonker Street, the bustling heart of Malacca's Chinatown. With historical buildings dating back to 17th-century Dutch colonialism, the street has long been a center of trade and commerce. Now attracting an international crowd with its antiques, textiles, foods, and souvenirs, the road has adapted to recent global attention with a wide range of bars, cafes, and restaurants added to its mix of businesses. Various temples, mosques, and museums are located along the strip, creating a vibrant, atmospheric, and educational cultural district. • A great place to enjoy your weekday but not your weekend. This place would be so pack during the weekend but still enjoy having ice cream puff there.
  • That place is pretty good but the weather there too hot if you go in the afternoon.
  • Its the night life of Melaka. Tourists can walk around and try local food, buy souvenirs and just enjoy the sights and sounds. But most of the stuff sold by stalls are not local products. A bit expensive as it is tourist spot. Lots of pubs around here, some offering live performances. worth a long hours slow walk at least once from one end to another.
  • Jonker Street is like the street of Chinatown in Malacca. It has turned to clothing and crafts outlets as well as restaurants. The best part of Jonker Street is during every Fridays and Saturdays night. The Jonker Walk comes to life with full colour with a lively street party-like atmosphere. Don't forget to try the following food while your are there (Price from RM3 to RM 15): 1. Watermelon Handbag 2. Coconut Ice Cream 3. Deep Fried Ice Cream 4. Jonker Walk Quail Egg 5. Light Bulb Drink 6. Liquid Nitrogen Korean Snack Food 7. True-blue Peranakan Popiah
  • Before declaration of Malacca as UNESCO site, this road used to be a ghost town and most shops were in bad conditioned or sunset business. After the declaration, this road suddenly turned into tourist attraction and now one of the must visit night market in Malacca. Photos taken today on the eve of chinese new year. Many shops closed Today due to CNY celebrations. Very obvious dropped in number of tourist during CNY.
