Gunung Raya, Langkawi

(3.9/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
As the highest point on Langkawi, Gunung Raya provides sweeping panoramas of the rainforest-clad island. Reach the 881 m (2,890 ft) summit by cable car or by climbing the 4,200 steps. Keep an eye out for small waterfalls, tropical birds, monkeys, giant lizards, and colorful butterflies among the lush vegetation. A viewing tower sits at the top of the summit, offering 360-degree views. If you choose to hike, bring plenty of water--the tropical heat makes for an exhausting climb. • Views are the best on the island but the industrial masts are difficult to avoid when taking photographs.  more »
  • the mountain, which offers the most beautiful views of the islands of the archipelago of Langkawi. ride agree not all taxi drivers and for the great amount of money, so it's best to rent a car (cheaper). though the ride isn't that far away and difficult as it turned out.

  • Its a good 20 to 30 min drive or you can climb some 4000 steps into the wild to reach to the top. View from top is beautiful. I couldnt spot anyone up there. Hence didn't go inside. Please dont expect...  more »

  • Its a decent 12 km drive up in the hills. When you land up there, great views but nothing to rest your feet , have a beer etc. The tea house is a run down place on its last leg of life with few employees wanting to sell you the lift to the tower which you don't need. Just enjoy the drive, take a turn on the top and drive right down. If you are a group on scooters, you should take the trip up as there are no speed limits like in Europe and no cameras so have a blast. Remember to take your own food and beers. We saw a monitor lizard on the way so that was an unexpected bonus of sorts.
  • You should going up here to see the beautiful of langkawi scenary
  • Amazing views. But if it rains, the entire area gets covered with mist. Be patient for a while and wait to see if it clears up
