Dataran Lang, Langkawi
(3.2/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Visit Dataran Lang, an iconic public space dominated by a 12 m (39 ft) statue of an eagle. Poised to take flight, the massive bird serves as the symbol of the island, which gets its name from the old Malay word for "eagle." The mountains across the bay, above which the eagle is ready to soar, and the shimmering waters in which it feeds, neatly frame the large statue. The central area features decent eateries, but beware of exhorbitant prices at the gift shop. Put Dataran Lang at the forefront of your travel plans using our Langkawi itinerary builder.

  • Its a monument to visit as it is where the name of langkawi comes from He LANG KaWI. which means island of eagles.
  • this place is visited by almost every tourist visiting the Island.A large eagle with Langkawi written offer a very nice photo shoot options
  • This is a giant statue of an eagle, and it's good for a couple of snaps. Difficult to spend more than a half hour here.

  • My last visit to Dataran Lang was Jan 2014 and it has gone some transformation and look a lot better now. This time they were doing some renovation and maintenance works in the whole area. Not much activity you could do here, just selfies here and there :) There were few shops selling souvenirs. It was Monday afternoon and not many visitors around. Parking was quite easy since I just parked my car in a paid car park nearby and very close to Kuah Jetty for a 50 sen an hour. It was a 5 min walk to the Dataran. You have an option of using coupon for parking along the road in the area.
  • I hate places that have lots of people but let's drop that. This place is very good, a very exciting place for those that likes to take pictures. Also, it's a walk away to fast food restaurants such as KFC and McDonald's.
  • On going construction work including some upgrading work which seems to move at the speed of molasses. They've blocked the passage towards the front of the Eagle monument which cancels all hope of getting a great photo.
  • Beautiful structure and what a great location to placed this sculpture and this bay
  • Datang Ke Langkawi mesti la kenalah bergambar kat sini... Ikon Langkawi kutt......
