Where to stay in Kuching

The most popular area to stay in Kuching remains just south of the Sarawak River, where you can find affordable hotels offering basic but comfortable rooms. South of Jalan Main Bazaar, budget backpacker accommodations in the form of hostels and guesthouses draw many visitors with limited means. Consider the districts north of the river for more exclusive and resort-style alternatives.

  • ChinaHouse offers a splendid dining experience, more so if you have a sweet tooth. Choose amongst the 20-odd variety of cakes, like I did.
  • I like the colonial architecture. Enjoyed the delicious cakes.
  • Interesting shop design. A good place to chill and have a cup of coffee while playing board games provided.
  • Good food and lovely ambiance. They have events happening every week (live performance, trivia nights and other artsy fartsy stuff) Food is quite expensive but worth it if you want to treat yourself to an occasional good meal. Staff is friendly and well-trained. GO-TO PLACE FOR ANY KUCHING HIPSTER.
  • Antique Concept Cafe, airconditioner wasn't good enough. Wash Room was not properly kept and a bit run down. Friendly Waiters and Waitresses.
