Kubah National Park, Kuching

#2 of 9 in Nature in Kuching
Hike through the dense rainforest of Kubah National Park. There are a couple of trails to choose from, all of which are fairly difficult, so they may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Trek the well-marked path to a stunning waterfall, where you can swim and rest for a while. Enjoy the fresh air, and spot many species of birds, lizards, and butterflies, as well as diverse trees and exotic flowers. Follow the trail to the frog pond, where you can observe more than a dozen frog species, or find one of the viewing stations and take in the spectacular surroundings. Wear comfortable shoes and bring lots of water, as it can get quite humid in this spacious nature reserve. Our Kuching holiday planner makes visiting Kubah National Park and other Kuching attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The national park is really nice, but stay far away from the hostel. It is not maintained at all. - there are holes in the mosquito nets and cracks in the walls everywhere, which let any bug come in -...  more »
  • It is an unforgettable experience to do any of the routes offered by the park. We went first to The Matang Wildlife Centre, and then to the entrance of Kubah, because although they are connected by a route, it is long and we are a family with a 9-year-old girl. We made the visit to the waterfall, and in total it took us about 4 hours back and forth going quietly. We were told to take swimsuits, but we didn't see enough water in the pools, and what we did see were leeches, so we didn't want anything to take a bath there. However, there were not many people and the sound of the jungle envelops you, besides the beauty of that vegetation.... I think of all the trekking we've done, this was the one that gave us the greatest sense of depth in the jungle, where wild nature envelops you and you're just a stranger. There's a lot of biodiversity, but the density of the jungle doesn't make it easy to discover. The half-hour climb down the track to the frog swell (which during the day you probably won't see), is a hard well, but then the route to the waterfall is well signposted, and although there may be some mud, you walk on almost every stretch quite well. The wooden stairs we found at the end before reaching the waterfall may need more maintenance, because there were several broken shelves. Whether to go or return with Grab to Kuching will be no problem, and the journey takes about 20-25 minutes.

  • The summit view is very nice. Is a good place to walk up to the summit to view the scenery. But is not a good place to hike like in the jungle trail. The air are fresh. Is a good place to slow walking and enjoy the view surrounded with trees, especially for those who don like hiking in the forest. Some people are jogging at here too. The waterfall also beautiful. The entrance fee is RM 10.
  • The summit hike is great for those who would like to train walking upward, but it's not the best place to hike. Unless you're going for the jungle trail, which the place provided and I'd say it is one of the friendlier trekking place to walk into. All green, and pretty challenging, but not too hardcore. Still, you could walk for hours in it if you want to. The view at Selang trail is pretty cool. Would like to spend more time there next time.
  • Stayed at the hostel for one night and went for trekking to the waterfall. Hostel was nice, but not so well maintained. But it was worth the price. Staffs are friendly too.
  • Nice waterfront. Good place for relax but not hiking
  • Reservations animal park.lovely place to see (orang Utah)
