Specialty Museum
National Museum narrates the history of Malaysia from prehistoric times, through the rise of the Islamic kingdoms, colonialism, and into the modern era. A mixture of dioramas and historical artifacts bring the past to life. The surprisingly compact and well-laid out museum includes an outdoor section containing traditional houses, ancient burial poles, a steam train engine, and more. The museum complex also encompasses ethnology and craft museums, both of which deserve a visit. • Your visit is required to get an idea of the country. He exhibits variety of pieces of art and culture of Malaysia.

  • We visited as part of an afternoon city tour. We only had about 30 mins here and do wish we could have had longer. Haing said that it is not huge but an hour would have been good.  more »
  • The small entrance fee is fine, but the story of Malaysia is told in a rather piecemeal and dated fashion. Even the attempts at realism in the exhibits (plaster replicas of caves for Stone Age; walls ...  more »

  • (Visited Sept 2016) Though somewhat lacking in many respects, the National Museum is worth a visit - more so considering the small RM2 entrance fee (RM5 for non-nationals). Houses a modest collection of well-kept artifacts from various time periods ranging from prehistoric all the way up to modern Malaysia.
  • It is recently renovated with new exhibits and layouts to show Malaysia's past and present. Facility-wise, the parking space is quite enough for the weekend. There is a surau building situated near the small museum about orang asli and its culture. There are two counter booths but on the recent visit, only one was opened that day. The souvenir shop is nothing to shout about. There is a specialty coffee shop but it was not opened when I came there.
  • The exhibits are lackadaisically organised and poorly displayed, taking away the awe of discovery from visitors here. The top floor exhibits are blatant propaganda for Malay supremacy. Entrance is exorbitant for non-Malaysians. If you're not driving or on a tour bus, access is only through the red GOKL bus or through the pedestrian bridge from the National Planetarium.
  • Its an ancient Musilm museum. It will bring you back the past. 5 minutes drive by car from KL sentral. However, you should check its schedule before visiting.
  • Thought will be interesting place to visit with my daughter during our visit, but it turn up to be a superb boring place. Other than some rocks & skeletons, cn be said nothing else to display. The exhibit really not reflect any history of Malaysia.
