Jamek Mosque, Kuala Lumpur
(3.6/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Admire the blend of different architectural styles at Jamek Mosque, the oldest mosque in the city. Built in 1909 by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback, the main building combines Moorish, Indo-Saracenic, and Mughal influences, with impressive whitewashed arches and a tall, striped minaret. Situated where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet, the grounds provide a tranquil place to walk and explore, with lush palms and the rivers idling by. • muslim wajib sholat disini! Masjid nampak indah saat malam hari. Bisa ditempuh jalan kaki dari Central Market. Bagi yang malas jalan, bisa naik LRT dari stasen Pasar Seni.
  • One of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in the capital (1909 g) was created by the English architect a. Habbjekom and built in the historic center of Kuala Lumpur, at the confluence of the two rivers, where the found tin mining, which rose Malaysia. The building has been preserved in its original form, but before 1965 was the main mosque of the city. Now along comes the construction and landscaping of the embankments, but you can take a picture of the mosque without excavators and razrytyh heaps of sand in the foreground. Being in the Center, the mosque is located within walking distance of Independence Square, central market, Indian Temple and China town, so include it in the route of the walk around the city

  • Lots of local restaurants (mamak) operating 24 hours, the place is easily accessible via LRT and very crowded if you go via cab.
  • Beutiful artchitecture
  • Great place for pray. Even there are workers for renovation. There are a tourist information center too. For you who want to know a little bit about Islam. If you want to be here. Head to Masjeed Jamesk station by LRT. The masjeed is across the street. For men, you need to wear pants long enough till under your knee. For women, you can wear a long pants and a scarf. But if you not bring it. The ta'meer (staff) let you borrow something you can wear for free.
  • Come here around Deepavali. U can see the festival side of Masjid Jamek.
  • the place is not open 24 hours a day. and for women should cover all of her aurat, if they are not the security will lend them scarf.
