Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Eschew old historical architecture for the sleek complex of glass and titanium that houses Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery. The museum takes visitors on a journey through Malaysia's economic past and the bank's role in the nation's economic development. The art gallery underlines the bank's role as a patron of the arts, with over 1,500 contemporary pieces from all over the country spread out over six different thematic galleries. The museum includes a collection of ancient coins and money explained through multimedia displays, and also taps into the Islamic banking system and its compliance with Sharia Law. The museum and gallery have a special education area geared toward children, plus you'll find a coffee shop and gift shop on site.
