Mamutik Island, Kota Kinabalu

Island
Take a trip to Mamutik Island, one of five islands in a marine park set just off the mainland. Despite being the smallest of the landmasses in the park, the island offers plentiful sandy beaches and lots of barbecue pits, picnic shelters, and tables. Dive into the surrounding waters to see the protected marine life, with attractive formations of coral and many colorful fish. Do watch out for sea urchins, however: lots of the spiky critters live around the coral close to the beach, so bring some flip-flops.
