Gua Tempurung, Gopeng

#1 of 9 in Things to do in Gopeng
Gua Tempurung is one of the largest limestone caves in peninsular Malaysia. The cavern features over 2 km (1.2 mi) of tunnels, with some sections developed for tourism with secure walkways and artificial lighting. Notice the many stalagmites and stalactites, marble walls, and ceilings that look like coconut shells. Wear sturdy sports shoes and bring a flashlight. • My first caving experience that involved getting wet. The view in there are amazing. The stalactites and stalagmites are beautiful. We went for the wet tour. We had to slide down the cave, go through ...  more »
  • If you're in Malaysia, you gotta visit this cave and do the level 4 tour (wet 3.5 hour tour) IT IS WORTH IT. That cave is so huge, very fun tour. You will get wet and muddy. So no phones or wallets (u...  more »
  • Different levels are available and prices are set accordingly. Basically a group is made according to level you choose. Level 1st and level 2nd are pretty easy. No guide require for that. Stairs has b...  more »
  • I would recommend the longest journey as it was so worthy, do bring your own torchlight, a head torch would be great (you can buy it there) , good shoes(very slippery), and everything needs to be waterproof. If you are bringing your phone, do put it in a waterproof case (you can buy it there). Please also bring a knee guard and elbow guard as you will need to crawl and you can bruise, I bruised ( they do not sale it there). Do wear proper attire as you will regret wearing shorts. Bring your own water. I will not recommend older people as I wanted to bring my mum to the last stage which is going through water and caves(slippery area), but thankfully I didn't as it was an exhausting journey and very dangerous if you are not careful. You also need to crawl through a small opening, so definitely a no go for older people. Do go through the stairs, my mum ended hers at the last steps. Great journey. Come early as the close the last stage early. Maybe around 9 would be great.
  • Most suitable and attractive place for adventure seekers. The staffs are very friendly and sporting. The price for packages are moderate. Best place for group of people (minimum 10) for fun-filled experience. The parking is enough for heavy crowd during weekends. Plan your package and get adventurous in Gua Tempurung. My personal note: Please wear shoes with good grip, don't bring people who are scared of sliding from height, and make sure you bring your own torchlight if you take "CAVE VISIT PACKAGE".
  • Fantastic place to go with friends / bring visitors from abroad. Service with a smile and the director was accommodating enough to let two friends and I go with a guide on the Top of the World tour (despite needing a minimum of 8 people to make up for the cost of the guide) which was great fun and also quite daunting (won't give too much away - but there's a part of the tour that's quite scary!!). Suits beginners as it's not too difficult although wouldn't recommend the wet tour for those who are claustrophobic. Guide was clear and helpful and overall we completed the tour in great spirits. Bring a headlamp, wet bag (if you're bringing a camera along), and gloves and kneepads would come in useful as well. Recommended!
  • Went there in mid 2017. Well maintained. Reasonable fees. Good place for family outing with some workout climbing the stairs. Been up to level 2 (Dry levels). Never been to level 3 and 4 (wet levels).
  • If you are the adventurous. Try on. But remember to bring your hiking shoe and also safety helmet. If not you have to use their smelly helmet. Your shoe gonna be wet. So bring trekking shoes that prevent wet.
