Where to stay in George Town

As an established tourist destination, George Town offers a range of options making use of the city's famous architectural diversity, with boutique hotels in the old town themed around the history of the building they occupy. For such singular accommodations, expect to pay a little more. Budget hotels and unbranded local options provide a comfortable night sleep at an affordable rate. The coastal areas offer more expensive resort-style luxury rooms with sea views, while away from the beaten track, you'll find backpacker hostels providing good options for those wanting to keep on the move.

  • As others say, it's an amazing place to get some posed group shots. They will probably come out frame-able. However I think the photos of various groups probably all come out similarly as the rooms are tiny and they are only a few angles to shoot from. They hurry you to pose and shoot, then move on to the next room so the group after you can shoot. Not much time to enjoy and think about the cool but confusing optical illusions. Sometimes not even time to look at our shots on the camera, which is sad, as we would like to confirm whether it is nice and see how else we want to pose. My young kids were so excited they wanted to go back to the rooms and do more shots. They did go backwards a bit and thankfully the many young photographer staff were somewhat understanding. Thank you!
  • Near to Komtar Tower & by early morning, a little bit free. The charge RM 27 per adult, child is little bit less. They helped everyone for taking good picture. Enjoyed it.
  • Pay first before u enter it..I forget how much the entrance per person.. but the workers are very friendly and they know what they do..make sure to bring camera/phone with great quality..so the pics would look nice.. and the workers will take the photos for youm. What u need to do is just act like u are being ordered by the workers..
  • It's fun to find some memorable photos. Replicas of environments like old coffeshops...upside down...r realistic and a good see for tourists. But DO NOT go during peak hours; cramped.
  • A good place to take fun trick shot photos. The helpful staff will teach you how to pose and help you take your photos. Can get quite packed.
