Set in a restored mansion, the museum's interiors and architecture display the singular style and aesthetics of the community, blending traditionally Chinese aspects with local Malay and, later, colonial British influences. • It was a great experience, our guide «  Stanley » had a great and funny way of delivering his knowledge about the mansion. But even just roaming around the house is worth it. Well restored mansion and very rich collection of everything pernakan.
  • Sorry but this is one of the most boring "museums" in the world. Also, i don't know if the guide was just bad or if theres simply not much to tell about this place and exhibition items. But paying +20RM entrance fee to literally get to look at countless pairs of old shoes is way too unexciting and i am not masochist enough to find anything good to mention about this place.
  • Excellent sight. Wonderfully restored old mansion with informative guides to show you around (included in admission price). Our guide, "Fab", was able to bring the building's history to life with tales from the mansion's past.
  • Well worth a visit. Joining a guided tour is highly dependent on the guide--some are much better than others. But even without a guide is easy to spend an hour there looking at the fascinating displays of 19th century wealth and excess.
  • This is a fabulous museum that features all things peranakan with a stunning display of glorious antiques and artefacts of that bygone era. There are numerous rooms to explore and a large variety of objects to be discovered from beaded sandals to elaborate kerosong to ornate jewels to porcelain wares that would take your breath away. Good to come early in the morning where it is cooler and there is better lighting from the sun rays streaming through the courtyard. A definite must to visit if you are in penang.
