  • It has frequent guided tours in English, and admission costs 20RMY (I think I remember). You will visit a large mansion full of luxury, crafts and city history. Infinitely more interesting than Blue Mansion, I would recommend making this visit only if you don't have much time in the city.

  • It’s like walking back in time, experiencing how the rich babas and nyonyas loved their lives. Free tour included so it’s very informative. Must visit if you are in Penang!  more »
  • Had a great experience with our guide Baba Stanley Teoh over a 45 mins informative and fun session. Baba Stanley was very humorous and knowledgeable with his Peranakan heritage. He shared with us many...  more »

  • WORTH IT! Expected nothing more than an ordinary sightseeing tourist spot but once we arrived, we were happy that there was a tour(including entrance fee: RM20 for Malaysians) to have a look around the mansion. It got better as the tour was very entertaining. Our group tour guide (Ricky) was very clear, informative and funny. Kudos to Ricky for letting us have a pleasant and entertaining experience!
  • Upon entry we were given an English speaking guide who took us to many of the rooms, showing us interesting pieces and answering all of our questions. Really interesting and ornate mansion. Tour lasted 30-45 min before we were left to visit the mansion on our own to take pictures (not all rooms were covered on our tour). Be prepared to take off your shoes before going to the 2nd floor. There are stairs - I don’t believe this would be friendly to those with mobility issues.
  • Ricky our English speaking guide brings this place to life with the amazing stories and the priceless treasure trove of exhibits. Do the tour which is included in the price (check out times) you won't regret it - a fascinating history and excellent walk through the history of a prominent family of George Town whose descendants still live here. Highly recommend for a trip back into a time gone by. You won't regret it. We loved it.
  • The history buff in me was hoping the house would hold more historical significance than it does, but nevertheless it is a very charming attraction and provides an interesting glimpse of Peranakan culture. Really enjoyed the tour from Stanley too. He was knowledgeable and entertaining! Would definitely recommend a visit if you’re touring Penang and want to know more about the cultural and historical context of this beautiful town.
  • This is a must visit for every tourist visiting Penang, with a noteworthy collection of antiques and decor that shows a glimpse of what it was like living in the Peranakan lifestyle in the 19th century. The mansion itself shows an incredible blend of cultures and architectural tastes, with English tiles, European artworks, Chinese paneling, etc. And even better, dress up for the occasion because you're going to notice the most amazing photo ops. Would definitely recommend to everyone visiting the island.
