Where to stay in George Town

As an established tourist destination, George Town offers a range of options making use of the city's famous architectural diversity, with boutique hotels in the old town themed around the history of the building they occupy. For such singular accommodations, expect to pay a little more. Budget hotels and unbranded local options provide a comfortable night sleep at an affordable rate. The coastal areas offer more expensive resort-style luxury rooms with sea views, while away from the beaten track, you'll find backpacker hostels providing good options for those wanting to keep on the move.

  • Good experience on how gold is found and produced to b gold bars. The only downside is, it doesn't look like a musuem, more like a bank. There's a Public Bank nearby, so many people think it's associated with the bank. Hard to find parking
  • Visited this museum last month. Got a chance to see how the silver ingot was produced. You will see how the gold was mined and learned a lot about gold products. The best part you can purchase gold products here with no GST
  • Gold museum, one time vist place. Describing history of gold and process of gold making.
  • Look for an unguarded 50kg gold brick just sitting there for everyone to feel that they won't frankly say is just a replica.
  • Good decor, engaged presenters, but didn't feel like the entry fee was justifiable
