  • This is a great thing to do while in Penang. The trip up the mountain is terrific although they pack in the people into each carriage and thus the view is a little obstructed. They have plenty of food...  more »

  • The view is great, but if you don't enjoy the touristy atmosphere near the top station, there are nice walks you can take further into the park. We went there during the off-peak season during Ramadan, so it was fairly quiet. Expect crowds during high season.
  • Great and much cleaner Hilltop... Must visit to penang Island... Get your view on Georgetown from here... The funicular tram is a great ride... Remember to go for the first front seat on the way down for a good thrill downhill...
  • Very nice view above the island and the city. There's not much more to do up there, just having a quick walk to see the temples. 45 minutes is enough. Ride up and down via the funicular costs 30 RM per person (~7 euros)
  • The funicular railway to the top is brilliant and gives a great idea of how steep the hill is. Worth visiting The Habitat for a chance to walk through the rainforest. We saw lots of wildlife and climbed the tree top walk. The route is accessible (the tree top walk isn't) and suitable for children (with supervision).
  • Cool on top and fun to ride the funicular. We were on the first train of the day, so we didn't have to deal with crowds. Once the lines start to fill up and all those tourist attractions on top of the hill open, it may be a different story, but we enjoyed seeing the sunrise from up there. Great hike back down the Jeep track, too. Good to get a little fresh air and exercise.
