  • It is better to be visited early in the morning. This is because there are less visitors in the early morning and you not need to queue up for long time and waste your time. Besides, you can enjoy the fresh and serene atmosphere there in the earlier morning. So that you can also take photographs there without crowded.
  • This was a really nice place to spend an afternoon. Don't expect much tourist attraction at the top. Cheap food at the Cliff Cafe, and nice 30min paved tracks between the Upper Station and Monkey Cup tea hut. The tram isn't the only way to get to the top, a Grab is cheaper, and faster (if you consider the queue).
  • Went there last night and what a splendid view it was to watch from up above. The city lights, the lighting on both bridges and even the lighting from the mainland was visible and what a beautiful sight it was. The sights from up above was beautiful but apart from that we were not able to see much on the Penang Hill as it was already past 9 pm and everybody was either closing or had already closed. The food outlets too mostly had closed therefore the trip up was just to view the city lights from up above. Tickets for the trip up and down were RM5 for Senior Citizens and RM10 for adults who are MyCard holders.
  • Great trip for tourist/visitor. The tram up down was great. $30rm for normal lane and $60rm for express lane for the tram ride. Weekend can be pack with visitors. Tip- take the front row seats, view and experience can be amazing. View is great up in penang hill.
  • A must see if you are going to Penang ! Its a lot of fun especially if you are in a group. The train ride, the view from the top of the hill are all good. But the new addition called the Habitat is what blows your mind away. Situated right at the top of the hill and approximately 3 stories high you get a birds eye view of the entire island, the bridges connecting it to the mainland and the forest of the island. The best time to go is just before sunset and get a fantastic view. I loved it!

Where to stay in George Town

As an established tourist destination, George Town offers a range of options making use of the city's famous architectural diversity, with boutique hotels in the old town themed around the history of the building they occupy. For such singular accommodations, expect to pay a little more. Budget hotels and unbranded local options provide a comfortable night sleep at an affordable rate. The coastal areas offer more expensive resort-style luxury rooms with sea views, while away from the beaten track, you'll find backpacker hostels providing good options for those wanting to keep on the move.
