  • A good trip for tourists to Penang. From the top a great view of the East side of the island. Very popular so will have to queue. Can pay more to avoid most of the queue. Best time to go I found to be about 1 - 2pm, avoiding the morning rush and when many people are having lunch.
  • Ride up on the funicular train is exciting. Temperature at the top is cool about 25°C. Nice view of Penang city. Food & dessert served at the Food court is very reasonably priced. Entry to The Habitat is very expensive (RM 50) with no discount for Malaysians.
  • I was there during the off peak session. It could be different experience if it is otherwise. My children enjoyed the most the cool greenery second to the swimming pools in Penang. Town walk was overwhelm too hot for them. The monkey is a bonus to them.
  • The view is great, but if you don't enjoy the touristy atmosphere near the top station, there are nice walks you can take further into the park. We went there during the off-peak season during Ramadan, so it was fairly quiet. Expect crowds during high season.
  • Good place to hangout. Nice weather. Nice spots to take pics. Lacks good options for food.

Where to stay in George Town

As an established tourist destination, George Town offers a range of options making use of the city's famous architectural diversity, with boutique hotels in the old town themed around the history of the building they occupy. For such singular accommodations, expect to pay a little more. Budget hotels and unbranded local options provide a comfortable night sleep at an affordable rate. The coastal areas offer more expensive resort-style luxury rooms with sea views, while away from the beaten track, you'll find backpacker hostels providing good options for those wanting to keep on the move.
