Penang Botanical Gardens, George Town
(3.1/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Stroll around the city's "green lung" at Penang Botanical Gardens. Established by the British on the site of an old granite quarry in 1884, the public gardens stretch out across 29 hectares (72 acres). Amble across the scenery to find the famous trees that live here, many with evocative nicknames like "the five o'clock tree" (its buds close just before dark). If you need a little exercise during your trip, come here for a jog, jungle trekking, or aerobics. Spot the many animals that call the park home, with long-tailed macaques, dusky leaf monkeys, and black giant squirrels among the favorites. Using our international travel planner, George Town attractions like Penang Botanical Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • These are not as neatly kept as the ones in Singapore, but it's still worthwile checking them out, possibly combined with a trip to Penang Hill.
  • Very nice garden, especially beautiful inside the jungle, turbulent River and ancient bridges, very scenic views! Admission is free, too. Sorry closed were all greenhouses, but looking over the NET there is not particularly the and interesting. Very many monkeys, trebushat everything that lies on the get around by renting motorbikes hide all in the trunk. The road generally meets many different inhabitants of the jungle, lizards, squirrels, turtles, and of course a bunch of monkeys at the entrance, and monkey in the middle of the road.
