Penang Botanical Gardens, George Town

(3.1/5 based on 950 reviews on the web)
Stroll around the city's "green lung" at Penang Botanical Gardens. Established by the British on the site of an old granite quarry in 1884, the public gardens stretch out across 29 hectares (72 acres). Amble across the scenery to find the famous trees that live here, many with evocative nicknames like "the five o'clock tree" (its buds close just before dark). If you need a little exercise during your trip, come here for a jog, jungle trekking, or aerobics. Spot the many animals that call the park home, with long-tailed macaques, dusky leaf monkeys, and black giant squirrels among the favorites. Using our international travel planner, George Town attractions like Penang Botanical Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Not far from the city of Penang this garden botatico really nice. Certainly the climate, the rains are plentiful, the Sun and heat will make this unique place: something maybe you can improve, the signs often unintelligible, and some extra bench to stiffen from hot, often very humid. Majestic trees, flowers and orchids of the rarer species. For a different day and surrounded by green! An excursion is recommended during your stay in the island.
