4.2/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web
Walk along Cannon Street to see a crater caused by the impact of a cannon shot fired by government troops during the Penang riots of 1867. A wrought-iron diorama shows a rickshaw unable to cross the large hole. Along the street you can find ornate temples, coffee shops, and various small boutiques, many housed in colonial-era buildings. Lots of interesting street art and graffiti decorate this historical area. • The street features quirky shops, good cafes and the famous Penang street art. We chose to make a day of exploring the temples, Cannon Street and Armenian Street. Highly recommended.
  • Highly recommended for anyone visiting Penang for the first time. Street art, local food, cultural sites, photography spots galore.
  • The visit of the Cannon Street is essential in Georgetown. Not only because a lot of temples which must be visited, or are in it because it is much street art... or because it is full of the best restaurants in the city, or because the best cafes and tea houses in the area are... also because the environment is absolutely fabulous. There is a great bustle at all hours, from tourists visiting temples, local people preparing for a good meal, the search engines of street art discovering new wonders, the most spiritual praying in churches (of all the possible religions), and currently also, seekers of Pokemons occupied everywhere! ;) Must visit!
