Religious Site
Admire Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, an impressive and important Hindu site offering views of the surrounding scenery. Since the early 1800s, a shrine in the area has been the focus of the Thaipusam celebration, a festival dedicated to Murugan, the Hindu god of war. The shrine was moved in 1850 to the present site, and the site has been expanded with a large temple added in 2012. The new temple includes a seven-story gopuram (main tower) that measures at 21.6 m (71 ft) tall and displays a grand style of Dravidian architecture. • Lots of steps to negotiate, about 500? The view is however well worth the hike. Hindu temple which is not that well advertised to visit.  more »
  • We have been to see this temple during our holiday in Penang successfully with the scooter the next day Thaipusam Festival that was held on February 9 and then there were the remains of what was the party. You enter by one gate along a square where there is a first simple Temple and then climb many stairs you reach the top where is the main temple that day there was closed but we were able to look in through the Windows. Classic façade hindu with nice decorations and the panorama from the top.

  • This is a very famous Hindu temple in Penang. Can be reached by bus no 10 from Jetty/or by taxi. Situated on top of a hill, one can reach the temple by climbing close to 500 steps. Best time to visit the temple is before 10AM or after 6PM to avoid scorching heat.
  • Worth seeing Temple. My greetings to the temple authorities for maintaining very good.
