Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, George Town
(4.4/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web)
Admire Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, an impressive and important Hindu site offering views of the surrounding scenery. Since the early 1800s, a shrine in the area has been the focus of the Thaipusam celebration, a festival dedicated to Murugan, the Hindu god of war. The shrine was moved in 1850 to the present site, and the site has been expanded with a large temple added in 2012. The new temple includes a seven-story gopuram (main tower) that measures at 21.6 m (71 ft) tall and displays a grand style of Dravidian architecture. • A quiet temple located above 513 steps. The steps are not too bad actually, not too steep, manageable. Recommended for those who enjoy a quiet morning.
  • To ascend you must overcome around 500 steps. It is necessary to take into account people who quite difficult to walk and climb. But it's worth it! Interesting architecture, top, very nice view, so in addition to the temple, you can admire the spectacular scenery. Out of town can be reached by bus 101.
