A traditional Christian church built in the 19th century, St.Michael's and All Angels Church serves as a tranquil space to spend some time with your thoughts. Surprisingly, given its impressive facade, the church was designed by an amateur, Rev. David Clement Scott, and built by inexperienced builders without any proper training. Notice the brickwork, made form local clay and wood-fired using a kiln--in total, the building has an estimated 81 different types of rock in its structure. You'll see that the two towers on both sides are quite different and not designed to be identical, another distinctive feature of the church's architecture. Today being the first time I attended but I could tell that the services to come will be better than how brilliant today's was.
It us a very interesting place of significant historic interest. The way they carved the bricks is probably unique
Structures were beautiful and nice, but staff asked us to contribute money so many times, which was too much.
Someone said that this was at one time the only complete church building between the Zambezi & the Nile. Certainly one of the most important historical sites in this part of Africa. The 'architect' DC Scott had no architectural experience at all & had never laid a brick in his life when he embarked on this. He kept the 'drawings' in his head & did not tell his bosses (The Mission Board in Scotland) about this work until it was completed. They confirmed afterwards that if they had known what he was building that they would have ordered him to stop. He was translating the bible at the same time he was building this with local labourers.
Despite being a place of worship it is also Historical place because of the existence of an old Church Building
