Palace of the Grand Dukes (Palais Grand-Ducal), Luxembourg City

3.9
#5 of 13 in Historic Sites in Luxembourg City
Palace of the Grand Dukes (Palais Grand-Ducal) features one of the most impressive facades in the city. Built as a city hall during the Flemish Renaissance, the palace suffered greatly during World War II--the Nazis destroyed much of the original furniture and decor and used the building as a tavern. Today, the grand interior is open for tours, but only during the summer. Check the website for dates and times. • Located near the Wilhelm Square, the Grand Palace is a building building, which, if not a guard, is like an ordinary mansion or a government building, not like a palace house. The halls of the Grand Palace are connected with the lower houses of the left, and the streets of the front of the temple are not wide, they are shops, and it is a bit difficult to take the whole palace.

  • The building that I think we can only visit in groups in a short summer. Charming architecture, which seems to bring together with a great complexity of building structures distinct

  • The building is very impressive. Unfortunately, we were in Luxembourg on Sunday and were able to admire it only from the outside. But the changing of the guard is interesting to look at and will be held on Sunday. Because the building right in the Centre it is easy to reach.

  • Visited during April 2017 few days before Easter, the weather was warm, mild chilly and a relaxing afternoon. This Palace got a rich history and political milestone coverage for more than 150 years with leaders that became part of the European Union Commission.
  • A very nice plaza and a very nice palace. You get the chance to see the Ducal guards and after that you can enjoy magnificent desserts at the Chocolate House!
  • Nice palace but didn’t get a chance to get inside. Building is nice but doesn’t deserve five stars. It is in a really nice area that offer many other attractions. There are also stores around to buy books or souvenirs. Highly recommended!
  • I like it. It is beautiful place. Most of all I like how they present the history of building. I advice You take the guide. Գեղեցիկ տեղ, շատ լավ ներկայացված էր պատմական փաստերը, անպայման օգտվեք գիդի ծառայությունից
  • Spend time watching the guards going up and down. Small for a palace but beautiful. In the middle of the historic town.
