General Patton Memorial Museum, Ettelbruck

Categories: Military Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 30+ reviews on the web
Dedicated to the general who liberated Ettelbruck from the Nazis in 1944, General Patton Memorial Museum gives a comprehensive view of the Nazi occupation and the liberation. The two floors of the museum are densely packed with displays. The museum is small, so you can take your time browsing the weaponry, uniforms, and many photographs of the war years. Seek out the ghost army collection, which offers a handful of artwork depicting the war by artists who were also medics and soldiers. The museum also gives you the stories of both sides, so even though it is dedicated to Patton, a view of the struggles of both armies drives home the cost of war for all. You can buy tickets at the door; the attraction is rarely crowded.
