Vilnius TV Tower, Vilnius

3.9
#8 of 56 in Sightseeing in Vilnius
Observation Deck Architectural Building
As the tallest building in the country, Vilnius TV Tower offers unrivaled views and holds a memorial for those who died in 1991 resisting Soviet troops. Standing more than 326 m (1,071 ft) tall (with its antenna included), the tower rises above Vilnius, forming a notable piece of its skyline. Ascend via elevator to the observation platform; from here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings, or get a drink or bite to eat at the tower's cafe. The entire platform makes a complete revolution once every hour. Don't miss the museum on the ground floor, dedicated to the 14 Lithuanian civilians killed in their attempts to blockade Soviet forces in 1991 and defend their country's newly asserted independence. • If it just for the history of the tower, then ok, but to pay 7 Euro's for just having a overview of Vilnius must be considerd. If just for pictures it depends if you willing to pay the fee or not. For...  more »
  • We went to visit because it was close to our hotel but it is far from being central. The downside was that we had to carry the stroller a couple of stairs. But I understood that if you call in advance...  more »
  • And perhaps one of the more unusual things to experience there. Not many tourists visit this place, since it usually requires taking a taxi or finding your way there by bus. It is also expensive, but ...  more »

  • Really beautiful place. Because of the slow rotation, you can sit and enjoy the view, but I didn,t like the food.
  • The view is good, but the tower is not that tall. You need to book your table in advance. The admittance fee is quite high.
  • Don't expect much! It's only a cafe, regular place to eat. Plus they charge you 7 Eur for lift.
  • An absolute must place to visit. You will not be disappointed. The views are amazing!
  • Absolutely superb! Fantastic views across the city and the food in the restaurant is excellent. This was the highlight of my week long trip. I will go back and take friends and family. ***Please note the TV tower opens at 11am but the restaurant opens at 1pm. *** Lastly, I have noted a few instances in Vilnius where venues have not been signposted very well. The TV tower was one of those instances. Currently (June 2016) you must go past the old overland entrance, down some stairs, turn right, through the glass doors and through a tunnel to get to the ticket office. VILNIUS, SIGNPOST YOUR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS PROPERLY!
