Gediminas Tower, Vilnius
Categories: History Museums, Museums
Perched atop a hill on the site of a medieval castle, Gediminas Tower today offers both sweeping views of Vilnius and represents one of the city's (and the country's) most enduring symbols. Originally a part of a 15th-century brick fortress, the tower's current iteration is the result of a reconstruction in 1930. Wander the path from the base of the hill to the tower and be rewarded with panoramic views of Vilnius' old and new areas, as well as the surrounding hills. Climb to the top of the structure for completely unobstructed views. Be sure to take a look at the small archaeological and historical exhibitions within, detailing the origins and history of the tower, as well as Lithuania's split from the Soviet Union in 1990. A visit to Gediminas Tower represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Vilnius tourist route planner to plot your vacation.

В самой башне небольшой музей замка на горе. С верху открывается потрясающий вид. Начать путешествие в Вильнюсе лучше именно с этого места.In the small Museum of the Castle Tower on the mountain. Enjoy stunning views from the top. Start your journey in Vilnius is better from this place.show original
Gedimas hill have good views. Entrance fee for that little tower is quite expensive 4 euros! If you climbing up to hill take with you water( or beer) because you cannot buy it anywhere nearby
Most interesting is the observing deck on top of building, otherwise the exhibition is pretty small - and they don't tell you this at entrance. So be sure to go to the top! The circular ladder to the top is pretty narrow and steep, be carefull.
It's a great place to feel a little bit of history behind Vilnius. The view is great. If you get to visit it, definitely go to the top of the tower.
Good place for a view of the city. Nothing much to do here otherwise. The funicular is not worth the (1€ each way). It is a short walk going up/down
A must see in Vilnius. I connect a lot of memories to the tower. You can come up for free to the view point. For the tower and the little museum you have to pay to go up. The view is a little better, but not completely different.
