Amber Museum, Vilnius
(3/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Dedicated to one of the Baltic region's most famous and popular indigenous products, Amber Museum houses a number of small exhibits and displays showcasing the formation and uses of the valuable resin. Visit the museum in its 17th-century house, and you'll get the chance to view a wealth of amber pieces, large and small, that are millions and millions of years old. Follow the displays in the basement tracking the origins of amber and its different varieties and forms. This section also documents its usage throughout human history. Don't miss one of the centerpieces of the facility: a chunk of amber weighing around 3 kg (6.6 lbs.). Pick up a piece of jewelry, carving, or other amber-based souvenir from the gift shop. • This is a place you can find only on city guide, and in the Center, but is hidden in the narrow street side cafés. A small museum with a history and a good collection of amber-a plus for tourists-free entrance, minus any information missing in Russian, that is very strange Visit recommend it, especially if it is cold outside and go bask mulled wine in the cafe for the fifth time two hours tired))) in the shop that you can buy souvenirs at the Museum and all sorts of amber things

  • The museum guide tells of Stone from ice age when Scandinavia's forests were brought with the ice to burrows in today's Lithuania and the former Prussia. Red-blue-green-brown-black-white and yellow amber is preserved at Bärnstensmusét in Vilnius. There are sovernires in amber which can be purchased on the site but also "bärnstensgrus" which can be put in the bottle of liquor and after a week it has been bärnstensbrännvin!!! All the travelers enjoyed this museum!

  • Small museum with several creations of amber. You can see under the magnifying glass examples of amber with embedded host, very interesting. Even the shop is varied and extensive, there is something for every budget.
