Trakai Historical National Park, Trakai
(4.7/5 based on 190 reviews on the web)
Encompassing the medieval capital of Lithuania and the countryside that surrounds it, Trakai Historical National Park represents the country's smallest national park and evokes the feeling of a by-gone era. Though only a short drive from the capital, the 8,200 hectare (20,263 acre) area features castles, historical farmsteads and villages, woodlands, manor houses, and little infrastructure away from the main attractions. Lakes make up a considerable portion of the park and help form the defenses of a popular tourist attraction--the restored 15th-century Trakai Island Castle. Rent a boat to explore the sights from the water. The castle area is also home to a number of souvenir shops selling traditional Lithuanian crafts. Once you've worked up an appetite, sample some kibinai, a traditional Karaite pastry, from a waterfront cafe. Before you head to Trakai, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Trakai holiday planner, to make sure you see all that Trakai has to offer, including Trakai Historical National Park.

  • If you visit the Castle don't drink miss the walk around the same and around the Lake that surrounds it. Of course in winter does a little on the cold side, but well worth it.

  • Natural link can skate in winter. Shades of the castle is beautiful. In summer it can be fishing.

  • Walked on these definitely beautiful places, arriving in the island Castle of Trakai. Of course, the weather in November has such little walks, but still not bad. Because there are a lot of water (the Lake galve, Luca, Titorishkju), you can imagine how attractive it looks like this place is nice during summer days. And yet-almost all local infrastructure closed until better times, bored and cold. It should be noted that the Trakai historical national park covers a huge area-more than 8th. hectares and, in addition to natural beauty, there are many historical sites, worthy of attention.

  • Sehr schön
  • Very beautiful place with lakes. But sadly castle almost all closed(mb it's just was wrong time..), so I recommend first find out about when you can go there and only then spend money.
  • Really green in summer time, I loved being on the lake and just taking in the surroundings, I highly recommend hiring one on those paddle boats for an hour or two.
  • Nice siteseeing
  • Its okay
