Housed in a 19th-century palace near the shores of the Baltic Sea, Palanga Amber Museum presents a vast collection of amber pieces and documents the creation and involvement of the valuable substance in local and human history. Visit the museum and its multitude of displays spread out over 15 different rooms; admire the variety of the collection's 28,000 pieces, about 5,000 of which are on show at any given time. Learn about the formation of amber in the region and its usage in human artwork and crafts from ancient times to the present day, where it remains one of Lithuania's most well-known and popular exports. Don't miss the sun stone, one of Europe's largest pieces of amber, and the many display pieces containing insects trapped for millions of years. • The Museum is located in a beautiful Green Park, a small, two-storey. Present all sorts of types of amber, the history of mining and processing. I especially liked the exposition of jewellery from amber, which were made famous by Jewelers in different historical periods. On the second floor there is a small gift shop where you can buy yourself something in memory of amber, and at reasonable prices. Recommend buying jewelry with amber here, prices to suit every budget, and ornaments very nice and unusual.

  • Great place to see while being in Palanga, especially when the weather isn't too hot. Amber exhibition isn't very big, but still very beautiful. And the garden!!!! It is so lovely. Highly recommended to visit along with your family and friends :)
  • Fantastic place with 19th century garden. Garden was designed by F.Andre, famous french landscape architect/designer. Although not much left from the 19th century buildings, the place is refurbished and cosy. Museum boasts with the largest collection of amber stones. If you're in Palanga, visit to this museum is a must!
  • Great experience, a lot to see and a great price for everyone. Can easily spend an hour exploring, learning and looking at the exposition. Recommended place to visit while being in Palanga.
  • The gardens are lovely to visit if the weather is on your side and the Amber exhibition is small but lovely. The shop is overpriced but overall it's a must do activity in the city
  • Beautiful building, really great exhibition. And the surrounding park is amazing.
