Where to stay in Kaunas

Kaunas matches its artistic and fun-loving energy with numerous stylish boutique hotels. The one surprise is that many are quite affordable without sacrificing location. If you want something more budget-friendly, this youthful city has hostels, bed and breakfasts, and guesthouses, within the old city or close by. To experience both the city and the natural surroundings of Kaunas, opt to stay at one of the campsites, easily accessible from town via bus and offering tents or campers to rent at very reasonable rates. Be sure to book ahead when traveling to Kaunas: the city gets quite busy in the summer months, and the lack of big hotels means the small ones fill up fast.

  • It's very sad to see animals suffering. The place itself is old and desperately needs renovation. The animals there are incredible but their life is just terrible.  more »

  • Good value, but can tell the zoo is in need of funds and backing. The place itself is good, large, trees everywhere, but enclosures are a tad small and some empty just laying there. Maybe they should join a few to make larger enclosures. Still worth a visit, the only place I've seen which has a snow leopard!! Hence the 4 stars. Hope people back it going forward.
  • It's well maintained and really enjoyable place to visit with family and friends.
  • They are doing the best they can with the money they have! On Christmas day I've seen no less than 10 staffers taking care of the animals. It lacks modernisation and English translations, but considering their budget they're doing well.
  • Most of the animals, keeping conditions are really poor and inappropriate, cages are too small. It' quite a depressing place.
  • Was nice to visit it again after 20 years break
