Stalin World / Grutas Park, Druskininkai

(4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
At Stalin World / Grutas Park, walk through a recreated Soviet prison camp and view Communist-era statues and relics to learn more about this period in Lithuania's past. The park got its start after the country gained its independence in 1990, when many Soviet statues were removed and dumped in various places. The founder aimed to bring these statues together in one place, and founded an attraction revolving around this history that still remains controversial today. The 86 statues are organized into groupings, such as the Totalitarian Sphere and the Terror Sphere, featuring major Communist leaders from Lithuania and other countries. Notice the barbed wire, guard towers, and the train car used to transport people to Gulags. You can take a tour to receive more in-depth information on each statue and exhibit. There is also a mini zoo located on the property and a cafe that serves Soviet food. • Very nice walk and walking, realize that the Lithuanians still honor the memory and history. The Park is in good condition, well maintained. In the warmer months you can walk at least half a day. I was pleased that, in addition to the sculptures and other things, there is a zoo with a super collection of pigeons:) and the playground of the Soviet times-with the same swing-carousels! Where else you can go for free your favorite all generations "Sling" ad nauseam and no Granny, which always push on the brake norovila the midst of Catania! When you get tired, there is a café, toilets, souvenirs. In General, all good and informative walks. Worth a visit for adults and couples with children.

  • Very interesting site! True, children don't really associate historical figures immortalized in rocks but you can enjoy with the whole family to watch this interesting exhibition. Interesting are also common rooms full of propgandowych posters and books. The hotel has parking and is hassle-free. I recommend visiting this place during the tour.
