Landmark
See the medieval Burg Gutenberg, where archeological digs have uncovered the 12 cm (5 in) Mars von Gutenberg figurine. The hillside has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The castle is perched on a hill about 70 m (230 ft) above the nearby village. Park at the foot of the hill, and climb a path that leads through vineyards up to the castle. The short walk provides views of the neighboring countryside and castle ruins. You can visit the castle's chapel and its rose garden. The bailey is open throughout the year, but the castle interior is closed for visitors. Guided tours need to be scheduled in advance. • Burg Gutenberg isn't as famous as Vaduz Castle but it's definitely worth a visit. Take Bus 11 from Vaduz Post Office and get down at Balzers Post Office (Rheinstrasse). From there, it's a 10 minute up...  more »
  • The castle is accessed via a path and a walk of about fifteen minutes. Visited on a Friday in mid-August and it was possible to see only the courtyard. If it weren't for the Castle I would not recommend a visit, because there is nothing to see. Nice the viw going up and that you see at the top, but this is worth the walk.

  • Interesting castle with also interesting history. The castle had also very bad period of him history when was all areal in ruins situation. But after all areal bought Egon Rheinberger architect from Austria. Which was interested of beauty that castle and landscape around as me. And all areal and the castle reconstructed. In him testament let all areal for peoples in town. So today is owner Balzers town. The courtyard is open for visitors every day in tourist season from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The castle's chapel and rose garden only in summer. But for excursion inside the castle is important ask the town hall.
  • Splendid View from up here.
  • Splendid view of Gutenberg from atop the castle.
  • From outside It is a beautiful simple castle.
  • Really old small fortress, very picturesque views around.
