  • Very worthwhile trip, it is an Ottoman Palace in the Chouf mountains, about 40 km South-East from Beirut. You want to prefer to stay here for hours. Everything is richly decorated, some rooms have a beautiful wood paneling, other elaborate mosaics or stained glass Windows. Worth seeing also the Hammam area with pool, marble floors and fountains, niches, light reflections from the ceiling. Outside a beautiful garden with colonnades.

  • We had a great day at Beiteddine, we walked around and looked at all the rooms and furniture. It would also be more helpful if there would be more explanation about the history and usage of the rooms and objects. In one of the rooms, a guide came in and told us a few stories about how the Emir used to judge people, that was very informative and interesting.
  • Majestic! Lebanon's true history packed in one place. The intricate stone work and masonry and the view are breathtaking. And the people are so nice and welcoming. Access to the Palace is free for the town's natives
  • This palace is really beautiful both outside and inside. The rooms are well furnished and there is a beautiful collection of mosaics. It was hot in the summer, so bring a water bottle. This place is well worth a visit.
  • One of the best touristic places in Lebanon that offers a deep insight into the country's history. Lovely architecture and furniture. Cheap, nominal entrance fee. Kids might not be interested in the matter of history. However there are vast yards and gardens where they can play.
  • Ottoman style Palace, one of the most important monuments in Lebanon that you can't miss if you are visiting the Chouf area. The inside cloisters and rooms are much more interesting that the facade of the palace, so you should enter to see!

Where to stay in Kafraiya

The small village of Kafraiya offers no accommodations in its main urban area, although a couple of resort-style hotels lie farther south along the main road through the valley. Beirut, with its wealth of accommodations, lies just over an hour's drive to the northwest. You'll find some resorts and spa retreats along the route, particularly in the scenic valley areas around the city of Hammana.
