Saint Charbel Tomb, Byblos

#3 of 17 in Things to do in Byblos
Religious Site Tourist Spot
At Saint Charbel Tomb, see where the sainted monk--whose mortal remains emanated white light--spent the last 23 years of his life. According to many witnesses, the monk's body was found intact four months after his burial without a coffin in muddy grounds. Walk the short wooded path from the temple to the tomb, which today holds only bones of peculiar reddish color. See where the monk spent most of his time: from the doorway of his modest cell, look at the bare floors and walls, and the log he used as a pillow. The area around the temple provides scenic views of the mountains and the sea. Where to stay in Byblos

Most visitors choose to explore Byblos on a day trip from Beirut. Most of the accommodations in Byblos itself cater to upmarket travelers, with comfortable hotels and luxury resorts offering all the creature comforts you'd expect. A handful of these lie close to the beach, while others can be found nestled within the walls of the old town. Larger, more modern options sit just outside the historic center, so as not to clash with the old aesthetic.
