#1 of 8 in Parks in Sigulda
One of the oldest tourist attractions in Latvia, Gutman's Cave, dates back to the 17th century and features inscriptions carved into the walls. The 10 m (33 ft) high and 12 m (39 ft) wide geological formation is reputed to be the tallest and widest grotto in the Baltics. Take a guided tour of the cave to see the inscriptions that were once ordered by rich citizens and later engraved by tourists, many depicting tales of love and death. • To come to Turaida castle we made a walk approximately 2-3km along covered by forests hills. In one place it was historical cave. we have heard the end of the story from the guide who came there with ...  more »
  • You can spend 10 minutes and show "cave": located in a National Park, in fact, hole in the wall with carved coats of arms and all inscriptions. on the contrary, paid parking, but you can razut your eyes and put a bit distance car at idle cafes free of charge. the good thing is that it costs nothing and you do not need to leave with the route, because nothing spectacular here.

  • If hiked the trail Sigulda-Turaida presents halfway this option. The cave is beautiful if framed with history and legends that are the protagonist, otherwise who is not informed, treats it unimportant.

  • Great caves to visit, good to take a few photos and maybe drink the special youthful water if you dare (I'm not sure if it is clean). The walk to the cave from Sigulda involves some steep stairs which can get very slippy when it rains. Alternatively you can skip most of the walk and use the cable car to cross the valley. The cavern is fairly large but there's no further passages in the cave.
  • If you're having a walk in the forest this is a nice place to visit. Not worth it to visit the cave alone.
  • Pretty underwhelming but worth the stop for the history alone. A beautiful place to walk and the cave is an easy stop on your walk
  • I stopped at this cave after visiting Sigulda on my way from Riga to Tallinn. The cave itself is not very big but it was a great visit. That being said the stairways to the left of the cave were the highlight. If you plan to visit Turaidas PIls, these stairs can take you to it. It may be a bit confusing because the path goes through some farmer's yards, but it was a awesome little journey. Definitely stop here and take the stair to Turaidas, it is well worth the time.
  • unusually rare cave and inscriptions dating back to the 1700's. well worth the visit.
