4.5/5 based on 85+ reviews on the web
In a quiet forest sits Salaspils Memorial Ensemble, created in memory of thousands who died in a concentration camp at this site. Menacing dark-gray stone statues represent suffering men, women, and children. A large marble block marks a massive grave while a metronome beats from under the ground, simulating heartbeats. Look for numerous toys scattered around the yard, a reminder of the children who perished here from hunger, cold, and disease. • Quote Santaâny to some extent reflects the motivation of all those few who rides in Salaspils. In the Nazi death machine were places and scarier-Auschwitz Auschwitz, Majdanek, Sobibor. But if you take into account statistics. The horror of Salaspils was that here is purposefully destroyed children. Vykačivaniem blood, conscious contamination measles and then cooled and swim in cold water. Salaspils makes remember that a person can contact its opposite-become worse than beast. The next year will be a half century as a group of Latvian architects led by Asaris graduated from Memorial. As the authors of the Yad Vashem Museum in Jerusalem, they were able to pass a flair language stone resistance prisoners. And 50 years later, you are going through, I guess, too, that those who came then to the opening. Only there is almost none of those who entered here in October 44. Maybe among them was my uncle, the sixth major release of the tank just reached to Courland. I don't know what to remember from seeing my 7-year-old daughter, but I hope that decades later it also deemed it my duty to come here and keep silence in memory of those who have stayed here forever.
