View of Riga from St Peter's Church Tower, Riga

(4/5 based on 1,600+ reviews on the web)
Get a 360-degree View of Riga from St Peter's Church Tower. Take the elevator to reach the 72 m (236 ft) high observation platform, then look down to see the diverse architecture, the remains of ancient city walls, the markets, and the squares of the town. Ancient chronicles from 1209 first mention the wooden tower, which, at the time, was the highest in Europe. You can watch a film about the church's restoration of the spire while waiting for the elevator. Notice the rooster on the spire--a precise replica of the previous one and the seventh rooster in all. Bring a jacket; it can be windy at the top. • For the access to the Church including access to the Tower, you pay 9 EUR (April 2017). This is measured by the average income in Latvia - a proud price. Even the DOM in Berlin is cheaper incl. dome... However, The view is beautiful weather! The lift starts in the second "floor", what felt rather 3 storey height mean. So nothing for people with reduced mobility. The small lift passes about four floors high and above you can circumnavigate the platform "away" on a small round. Here at best 20 people fit in, so the lift is also only every 10 min. You can shoot the city wonderfully without glass panes. Nice view!

  • The best overview of the city. In all directions 360 degrees. Don't miss the exhibition on the ground floor. Now that two years ago, when for the first time, very nice paintings on display.
